In brief

New Year's Eve in Budva is a run of concerts on the main square under the Old Town ramparts, with a hotel table as the quieter option. The 2026/27 programme has not been announced, so this page describes the last edition and what it teaches.

Budva in winter is meant to be empty, and on 31 December it is not. NYE here means a stage in front of the Old Town walls, run by the Tourist Organisation of Budva, and the 2025/26 edition filled seven evenings with concerts, plus a children's programme at 13:00 on the day itself. The line-up for 2026/27 is still unpublished, so everything below is the last edition, written in the past tense on purpose.

Where Budva celebrates

The square by the Old Town

The main stage stands on the central city square, directly in front of the Old Town ramparts, and the organiser is the Tourist Organisation of Budva. The programme of the last edition ran on these dates: 29 Dec 2025 to 4 Jan 2026 (2025/26 edition). Anyone planning New Year in Budva can treat the square as the one fixed point of the evening, since the headline act on 31 December played there, in front of the walls. With one stage carrying the evening, the real question is how early to arrive.

What the 2025/26 programme looked like

  • 29 December: Mirza Selimović, Boban Rajović, Jovana Pajić and Peđa Medenica.
  • 30 December: Zana, Tap 011 and Marko Luis in the evening, with the Budva City Band playing during the day.
  • 31 December: Teodora Šćepanović, Emina Jahović and Aco Pejović, after the children's programme at 13:00.
  • 1 January: the Boka Symphony Orchestra, then Chegi, Perper and Bijelo dugme in the evening.
  • 2 to 4 January: Breskvica, Relja Popović and Nikolija Jovanović, then Sergej Ćetković, Sara Jo and the Lexington band, closing with tribute acts to Bowie, ABBA and AC/DC.

Midnight, fireworks and the drone show

Budva fireworks and a drone show sound like a safe bet for midnight. The last edition shows why they are a risky thing to build a night around. On 31 December 2025 the drones fell into the sea and onto the plateau in front of the Harbour Master's Office, and nobody was hurt; the fireworks had gone off before that, and the cause of the failure was never established. Treat any fireworks and drones as a bonus, and plan the evening so that the concert itself is the reason you came.

Plan B

A seat instead of a square

Hotels in Budva sell New Year packages that include a concert, which turns the crowd on the square into a table with a view of the stage. Each hotel sets its own price, so ask directly. The other quieter option is to be inside the Old Town before midnight. Families have an easier day, since the children's programme starts at 13:00 on 31 December.

Tickets
Budva Citadela

A ticket with a chosen time slot, booked ahead.

1 January

The morning after is slow, and the day is built around the classical concert by the Boka Symphony Orchestra. Date of the last edition: 1 Jan 2026 (2025/26 edition). Bijelo dugme took the stage that evening. Between the two, a walk along Slovenska plaža or up to the Citadela suits a late start.

Where to sleep

If the hotel package is your plan B, book early, since packages with a concert go among the first. A room within walking distance of the square saves you a taxi hunt after the concert. The page on where to stay compares the quarters of Budva in detail.
