Where to go: five more questions →

Three numbers decide when to go to Budva: the sea at 21 to 23°C in June and about 26°C in August, clubs that run for eight to ten weeks, and a September with about three times August's rain. They show there is no single best month, only a month for swimming, a month for nights out and a month for both.

The year month by month

ItemAmount
November–Marchsea 14–19°C, three to six hours of sun a day; most rain in November and December
April–Maysea 15–19°C; more sun each week, swimming only for the hardy
Junesea 21–23°C, about ten hours of sun, little rain; the clubs are only opening
July–Augustsea 24–26°C, the driest and sunniest; Top Hill runs its full programme

For swimmingJune–September, when the sea is 21°C or warmer

The sea is the average of the last ten years; sources differ by up to two degrees, hence the ranges.

Nights out keep a shorter calendar than the sea

The sea is warm from June to September, but Top Hill, the club on the hill above the town, runs its full programme for only eight to ten weeks — from late June or early July to the end of August. Come for nights out and there is no choice: July or August. Come for the sea and the choice is between June and September.

September is not June

The September sea is a degree or two cooler than August's and warmer than June's, because water loses summer slowly. But the rain comes back: about three times as much falls as in August, while June is dry. If you pick September, pick its first half and allow for a wet day; if you would rather not gamble, pick June and a sea three to four degrees cooler than August.
