Privacy policy

What we collect (little), why, who it touches, and what you can ask of us.

Nomadinho does not sell data and does not build ad profiles of visitors. We use basic visit analytics (Google Analytics) only with your consent, and the only data we knowingly collect from you directly is an email address — and only if you enter it in the signup form yourself.

Who we are

Nomadinho is a travel site with destination guides, stories from the road and practical notes. For anything about your data, write to info@nomadinho.com — we reply within a reasonable time.

What we collect

  • Email address — only if you sign up yourself. We use it solely to let you know when a new destination or story goes up. We don't pass it on to anyone and don't use it for anything else.
  • Server logs — the hosting automatically records IP address, browser type and access time, as every site on the internet does. This serves security and fault-finding; we don't link those logs to you as a person.

What we don't do: no Facebook pixel, no ad-profiling of visitors, no selling of data, and no using Google Analytics for personalised ads — just visit counts. If that approach ever changes, this page changes first.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site, which pages they read and what device they're on — it helps us know what to write next. Analytics only runs if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit; until you consent (or if you click "Decline"), Google Analytics is not loaded at all. The data it collects is aggregated and does not include your name or email address — your IP address is shortened (anonymised) before processing. Data is processed by Google Ireland Limited and may be transferred to servers in the US; Google maintains its own GDPR compliance mechanisms. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies in your browser or blocking scripts from google-analytics.com and googletagmanager.com.

Our visit counter

The site also has its own visit counter. It sets no cookies and, without your consent, stores nothing in your browser, so it runs even if you decline the banner. It records which page you opened, where you came from (Google or the newsletter, say), language, device type, your browser's time zone (used only to work out the country), how long the page stayed open and how far you scrolled, and clicks on partner links. We don't keep your IP address: it is combined with the browser signature into a one-way fingerprint that is only valid for that day, so visits on different days can't be linked. We don't record what you type into search. The data sits in a database on our own hosting and is never shared.

If you click "Accept", the counter also stores a random ID in your browser (nomadinho_vid) so we can tell whether you've been back. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.

Cookies

The site itself sets no tracking cookies without consent. These are the cookies that may appear:

  • Consent cookie (nomadinho_consent) — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask every time. This one is necessary for the banner to work and doesn't require separate consent.
  • Google Analytics — set only if you click "Accept"; remembers an anonymised visit for statistics.
  • The flight search widget (on the Flights page) — Travelpayouts sets cookies that remember your search and record that you came from our site.
  • Affiliate links — when you click through to Kiwi.com or another partner, that site sets a cookie recording that Nomadinho sent you.

Cookies from partners (Travelpayouts, Kiwi.com and similar) are controlled by them, not by us, under their own rules. You can block all cookies in your browser settings — the site works fine without them, except we won't know how many people visited.

Where to go

When you fill in “Where to go”, your answers (budget, weather, type of trip, interests and who you travel with) are stored only in your browser, in this site's local storage. They are never sent to us, never reach any server and are not linked to anything else. Their only purpose is to show you, on each destination page, how well that place suits you. They disappear when you clear this site's data in your browser.

“Where to go” can ask for your location — the browser itself asks for permission. If you give it, it is used only to find the nearest city and how far each place is. The coordinates and the chosen city are stored only in your browser and are never sent to us or anyone else. If you don't give permission, the city is guessed from your browser's time zone, or you type it in yourself. You can withdraw permission in your browser settings and delete what is stored by clearing this site's data.

The places you mark on the “Where I've been” map, your wish list and the view you last used in “Where to go” are kept the same way, in your browser only.

Affiliate links, openly

Some links on the site are affiliate links. If you book a flight or a stay through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't affect what we recommend — it pays for the hosting and the hours that go into the guides.

Who the data touches

  • Brevo (France) — sending the emails; your address is stored there.
  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) — anonymised visit statistics, only with consent.
  • Travelpayouts — the flights widget and commission tracking.
  • Kiwi.com and other travel partners — when you click their link.
  • Google Fonts — fonts load from Google's servers, so Google sees the visitor's IP address.
  • GoDaddy — hosting and server logs.

Each of them has its own privacy policy, which applies to the data that reaches them.

Legal basis

  • Email address — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Withdraw it any time.
  • Google Analytics — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by clicking "Accept" on the cookie banner. Withdraw it any time by clearing cookies.
  • Server logs — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), for site security.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, it's removed from the list. Google Analytics data is kept by Google for 14 months by default, after which it's automatically deleted. Server logs are kept short-term by the hosting provider, under their own rules.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to the data we hold about you, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. For any of it, write to info@nomadinho.com.

Unsubscribing is simpler — there's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.

If you believe your rights have been infringed, you can contact the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (poverenik.rs), or, if you're in the EU, the supervisory authority in your country.

Children

The site is not intended for children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date below and publish the new version at this address.
