The last published celebration on Zlatibor was a free concert on Kraljev trg, in the resort centre by the lake. The programme for 2026/27 has not been published yet, and snow was never part of the deal.
New Year's Eve on Zlatibor in 2025/26 was a free concert on Kraljev trg by the lake, and a bed in a town that sells out before the programme is even announced. The usual picture of a snowy mountain fairy tale is the part that fails most often. In 2023 the slopes had no snow cover, and in December 2025 only two pistes were ready at Tornik. So book the stay, dress for the cold and treat snow as a bonus, because the square and the lake are there with or without it.
Where the party was last winter
Zlatibor is a mountain resort and not a town, so the celebration happens in the tourist centre around the lake. The municipality of Čajetina, the Zlatibor Cultural Centre and the Zlatibor Tourist Organisation put on free concerts on Kraljev trg, the main square, over several evenings: 31 Dec 2025 – 2 Jan 2026. Dejan Matić played on the night of 31 December in the 2025/26 edition, Anđela Ignjatović Breskvica followed on 1 January and Džejla Ramović on 2 January, so the party did not stop at midnight. The edition was 31 Dec 2025, and it is only a guide to the style, since the 2026/27 programme has not been published.
Fireworks are the other part of the cliché. A midnight display on Kraljev trg was part of the 2023 celebration, together with a brass band. For 2025/26 the reports on the evening mention none, so do not build the night around fireworks.
The snow story needs the same caution. In 2023 the resort had no snow cover, and in early December 2025 the Tornik ski area had enough snow only for the Stankova ravan piste and the beginners' piste, while the cable lift was out of service. Skiing on Zlatibor depends on the snow, and the official ski resorts of Serbia site, skijalistasrbije.rs, reports the conditions before you set out.
Beds sell out in advance
Hotels and apartments around the lake fill up well before the programme appears, and in 2023 the hotels were sold out by 29 December. Hotels offer a New Year's package with dinner for those who want a table and a warm room. Apartment complexes by the water, such as Kraljevi konaci, are the alternative to a hotel with dinner. Book without waiting for the performer, because the performer is not the thing that decides whether you find a bed.
- Arrive early and stay in the centre, where the square, the lake and the stalls are close together.
- Pack warm clothes, as no snow is guaranteed and the nights are cold anyway.
- A bed beside the lake means a walk to the square.
- The municipality's programme ran on 1 and 2 January too, with Breskvica and Džejla Ramović.
- Serbian New Year brings a second concert in the middle of January.
Check the same room on both sites: price and cancellation terms can differ.
Instead of the crowd: the gondola and day trips
On the morning after, a ride on the Gold Gondola from the centre up to Tornik is the easy escape from the square. The return ticket is €17. The holiday timetable has not been announced, so the gondola is a plan for a day when it runs, and it is the official site goldgondola.rs that sells the tickets.
For a longer day, Stopića Cave near Rožanstvo and the Gostilje waterfall are the nearby stops, and there is also a day trip to Drvengrad, the wooden village in Mokra Gora.
Go for the free concert on Kraljev trg if you came for the atmosphere, and book the bed now. Do not count on snow.
A ticket with a chosen time slot, booked ahead.
Serbian New Year
The Serbian New Year, on the night of 13 to 14 January, has its own concert in the municipality's programme. If you missed 31 December, or want the resort with fewer people, it is a second chance at the same square.
1 January
New Year's Day and 2 January are public holidays in Serbia, so the resort starts slowly. Walk around the lake, take the gondola if it runs, or go to the municipality's concert, because Breskvica played on that evening in the 2025/26 edition. What stays open that day is not announced, so do not plan the day around a particular restaurant.

Book the bed now, come to the square for the concert and keep snow as a bonus.
