The best time to visit Varna
Varna runs on a summer rhythm but not summer doors — the museums and the Thermae stay open all year, just for shorter hours once the sea empties.
- Best
- Jun–Sep, peak Jul–Aug
- For the beach
- Jun–Sep
- Dolphinarium peak pricing
- 15 June – 15 September

In Varna the swimming season runs Jun–Sep, and the same months suit the city best too, since the Thermae and the Aquarium keep longer hours then. Outside that window the city still works — just on shorter hours and without the beach as a reason to come.
Swimming season and peak pricing
The sea is swimmable Jun–Sep, peaking in July and August. The Dolphinarium follows the same calendar from the other side: the price rises in the window from 15 June to 15 September, and is lower outside it. Arrive in early June or the second half of September and you get the sea in season, a quieter beach and a cheaper show.

What changes
The museums run all year — hours and the day off change in winter
Which month for whom
- First visit — early June or the second half of September: the sea is in season, the Thermae keep summer hours, and the Dolphinarium is cheaper.
- Beach only — July and August, knowing that is also the most expensive Dolphinarium window.
- Off-season — the city still works, but the Small Roman Thermae are shut and the Aquarium and Ethnographic Museum run the shorter hours from the table above.

Before you go
