Varna in 2 days
Day one the city and the Thermae, day two the Sea Garden and the beach — Varna fills two whole days.
- How long
- 2–3
- Getting around
- The centre on foot
- Rhythm
- Museums and the Thermae in the morning

Varna runs in two different rhythms: day one is the city, with the Thermae and the museum that do not work rushed after lunch; day two is the sea, with a park that leads straight to the sand. A third day, if there is one, goes on a day trip, not a repeat of the first two.
The old centre and the Roman Thermae
The Great Roman Thermae at opening, while empty. This is the largest ancient building in Bulgaria and needs only 30 min — open without a break in summer, shorter hours with a day off in winter. Entry is €4.
The Cathedral of the Assumption, two minutes on — open daily 7–17.30, entry free.
The Archaeological Museum: the room with the oldest worked gold in the world takes 1–2 h. Entry €10.
Lunch: fish soup (€6.14) or grilled kebapche (€3–5).
A free afternoon in the old centre — or a first step into the Sea Garden, if tomorrow starts early at the beach.
Off-season the Thermae close (winter: Sun & Mon), and so does the Archaeological Museum (off-season: Sun & Mon) — give that day to the Sea Garden.

The Sea Garden, the Dolphinarium and the beach
The Sea Garden end to end, 1–2 h for an ordinary walk along the water.
The Dolphinarium, if it fits the show schedule (Tue–Sun, closed Mon); booking is recommended in summer, price €14–26.
The Aquarium, a shorter stop, €2.
The beach: fine sand, a sunbed €3.50–5 each.
Dinner with grilled sea bass (€12.27) or fried rapana (€9.20).
Two traps in this plan
- The Dolphinarium on a Monday. The shows stand down — move that day to a museum or the beach instead.
- The Thermae after 5pm in winter. Off-season they close earlier and take a day off; in summer they run without a break until 6pm.
- A third day tacked onto the first two. If time is left, it goes on a day trip — the city and the sea are already covered here.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Where does a third day in Varna go?
On a day trip: Aladzha Monastery or the Stone Forest for half a day, Balchik or Nesebar for a full one. The city and the sea are covered in the first two days.
What if it rains?
The Archaeological Museum and the Aquarium are indoors; the Thermae are open-air ruins, so they, the beach and the park move to the next dry day.
Is the Dolphinarium open every day?
No. Shows run Tuesday to Sunday, closed Monday; move that day to a museum or the beach.
