Varna off the main list: what is left when the museums close
An ethnographic museum whose day off flips with the season, a bath house that only runs in summer, and a royal residence you cannot just walk up to.
- The Ethnographic Museum
- Entry €5
- The Small Roman Thermae
- Entry €1
- The Euxinograd Residence
- Guided tour only, about 1 h 30

These are not weaker stops than the Great Thermae or the Archaeological Museum — they are skipped because each has its own catch: a season, a day off that moves, or a tour that has to be booked ahead.
1. The Ethnographic Museum — a day off that flips
A collection of folk costume and crafts in a nineteenth-century house, entry €5. The catch is the day off: in winter it is closed winter: Sat & Sun; summer: Mon, while in summer the rule flips and it closes on a different day instead. Arriving off-season, check the schedule before you go — do not assume the same closed day as summer.
2. The Small Roman Thermae — four months only
A smaller, southern bath house, separate from the Great Thermae, open only Jun–Sep 10–17 and fully closed outside that window — not shorter hours, closed doors. Entry is €1, and if you have already seen the Great Thermae, this is the smaller, quieter version of the same story, without the crowd.

3. The Euxinograd Residence — by guided tour only
The Bulgarian royal family's summer residence, still a state protocol site — entered only on an organised, pre-booked tour, about 1 h 30. Build the day around that tour's slot, since there is no walking up without a booking here.
4. The sculptures in the Sea Garden
An open-air gallery inside the Sea Garden — Icarus and The Fisherman and the Golden Fish are the better-known two, free to see, on no particular schedule. It needs no separate trip out: it sits along the same walk that leads to the beach.
