Four destinations fit into a day from Timișoara, each its own way: Buziaș and Recaș are close and take half a day, Arad and Corvin Castle want a full day because of the journey. None combines with another on the same day — each has its own transport and its own pace.
Buziaș — a spa town
The village is first mentioned in a document from 1321, but stayed an insignificant place off the main routes until the 19th century. Its mineral springs were first analysed in 1811, and Buziaș gained status as a spa of national interest in 1911. bus (Timișoara Nord), 50 min, the journey takes 50 min.

The Recaș wineries
Vineyards on this land are recorded in documents as far back as 1447. Today's Cramele Recaș, one of Romania's largest wine producers, farms about 1,200 hectares. Visits are only possible by phoning ahead, in groups of at least four, on weekdays. by car, about 22 min from the centre.
Arad
A city on the Mureș river, 1 h 6 min by bus from Timișoara. The 18th-century star-shaped fortress is currently closed to visitors, but the riverside promenade and pedestrian zone stay open and free.
Corvin Castle
The Gothic-Renaissance castle was begun after 1440 by John Hunyadi on the foundations of an older stronghold; his son Matthias Corvinus continued the work, adding a Renaissance wing, and Gabriel Bethlen extended it further in the 17th century. It is one of the largest castles in Europe. Entry €10.45, by car, about 2 h 20 min, the journey takes 2 h 20 min.

Travel time one way; bus for Buziaș and Arad, car for Recaș and Hunedoara.
What to know in advance
- The Recaș wineries do not take walk-ins. Calling ahead is required, with a minimum group of four.
- Arad's fortress is closed. The trip still works for the riverside walk, just not for the fortress itself.
