What to eat in Timișoara
Mici and Banat-style stuffed cabbage hold the main menu, tripe soup opens lunch, and langoș with cheese is the street food you eat on the move.

- For lunch

- Main course
- Banat-style stuffed cabbage €6.84–8.17

Banat cooking in Timișoara is heavier than the coast's and denser than Bucharest's: grilled mici come a few at a time, tripe soup opens lunch, and Banat-style stuffed cabbage is the sit-down main course. What follows is that same menu, dish by dish, with the price against each one.
Mici — grilled meat ordered a few at a time
Mici (€1.52–1.90/pc a piece) are skinless grilled rolls of minced meat, seasoned with garlic and a pinch of baking soda. One piece is a bite, so five or six get ordered at once, with mustard and fresh bread — that plate is the whole meal, with no other main course alongside it.

Tripe soup and stuffed cabbage — Banat's heavier side
Tripe soup (€4.75–5.60) is a beef-tripe soup, seasoned with garlic and vinegar to taste — heavier than a coastal soup, good on a cold day. Banat-style stuffed cabbage (€6.84–8.17) is minced meat and rice rolled in cabbage leaves, stewed longer than elsewhere in Romania, served with polenta or sour cream.

Langoș — street food for on the move
Langoș with cheese (€2.85–4.18) is fried dough topped with grated cheese, sold from kiosks in the centre and at markets — the same price as any other street meal in the city. It's eaten warm, by hand, no sitting down.

Mornings and quick bites
- Street food — a langoș or similar kiosk meal, about €2.85–4.18, quick and no sitting down.
- Set lunch — €5.70–7.69 on a weekday in a Cetate or Iosefin restaurant, two or three courses with a soup or starter.
- Restaurant, main course — €6.65–12.54 sitting down, no drinks, usually stuffed cabbage or something off the grill.

One piece of mici is a bite. Ordering two or three per person and expecting a full meal is the commonest grill mistake visitors make.
