Mistakes everyone makes in Kragujevac
Kragujevac has no airport, the theatre doesn't run when you want it to but when there's a show, and the Šumarice museum, unusually, opens on Mondays too — mistakes that cost time here.

Most mistakes in Kragujevac come from expectations that hold in other cities — that there's an airport, that euro works at the till, that Monday is a closed day everywhere. Knowing the following six in advance makes the difference, not learning them on the spot.
Expecting an airport in town
Kragujevac has no airport of its own, even though Morava, by Kraljevo, is only 34 kilometres away as the crow flies — only a couple of seasonal routes fly there, with no public transport into town. Anyone planning to fly straight to Kragujevac loses time; the practical way in runs through Belgrade, 1 h 40 – 2 h by coach.

Paying in euro at the till
The dinar is the only legal tender; a kafana or a shop will as a rule not take euro. Cards work almost everywhere in the centre, so dinar cash is only needed for small purchases.

The theatre without checking the schedule
The Princely Serbian Theatre isn't a museum you can drop into any time — the box office runs box office 10–14, plus 18–20 on show days, and the doors are shut outside performance dates. Turn up without checking the schedule, and you find a closed door, not a performance.

Kragujevac on a Monday — a wrong assumption
Museums in many cities close on Mondays, so it's easy to skip the whole visit over the day of the week — but the 21 October Museum at Šumarice opens on Mondays too, Mon–Sat 8–18, Sun & holidays 9–16, closing day: none. Avoid Monday thinking it's closed, and you lose a day for no reason.

Lake Gruža without a car
No city transport reaches the lake or Borač. Set off on foot or counting on a bus, and you stay in town — the trip needs your own car or an organised transfer.

Wedding cabbage as a quick lunch
The dish cooks for hours in an earthenware pot, ordered ahead — order it expecting a quick meal before the next stop, and you either wait longer than planned or go without it.
