Cluj-Napoca in 2 days
The centre on foot on day one, then across the Someș to Cetățuia and the Botanical Garden on day two — two sides of the city that do not mix along the way.

- On foot in the centre
- Rhythm
- Union Square in the morning while empty

This plan splits the city by the river, not by a list of sights: day one is the centre around Union Square and Museum Square, day two crosses the Someș to the viewpoint on Cetățuia and the Botanical Garden. Mix them up and the same bridge gets crossed twice for nothing.
The centre: from Union Square to Museum Square
Union Square and St Michael's Church, the second-largest Gothic church in Transylvania — construction ran from 1316 to 1487, the tower stands 76 metres tall. Entry to the church free.
A walk down Potaissa Street to Museum Square, a quieter old square with the remains of Roman Napoca under the pavement.
The Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania, in the 16th-century Reduta palace: €2.01, Wed–Sun 10–18 (last entry 17).
Lunch from a stall: a kürtőskalács for €4.75–5.70 or a tripe soup for €4.94.
On the way back towards the centre, the Tailors' Tower — the only one left of the city's original eighteen, now a Centre for Urban Culture — and the façades of Potaissa Street, linking the two squares. Entry to the tower free.
Dinner near Union Square, a main course at €4.94–6.08.
The Ethnographic Museum is closed Monday and Tuesday. If the plan starts on one of those two days, the museum moves to another slot rather than getting quietly dropped.

Across the Someș: Cetățuia, the garden and the cathedral
Across the bridge over the Someș to the foot of Cetățuia hill — a viewpoint over the whole Old Town, entry free.
The Alexandru Borza Botanical Garden: €2.85, daily 9–20 (greenhouses 9–18); a visit takes 1–2 h.
Lunch near the centre, €4.94–8.55 for a set menu.
The Metropolitan Cathedral, its dome modelled on Istanbul's Hagia Sophia: free, recommended 12–18 (services 8–12, 18–20).
Central Park, the oldest in the city: free.
This day holds the hill, the garden, the cathedral and the park, but shortens each one. For a slower walk to the viewpoint, split it in two — Cetățuia and the garden one morning, the cathedral and the park the next.
For a longer stay, Sibiu is the next logical step through Transylvania — another city with its own medieval centre, on the way south.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Where does a third day in Cluj-Napoca go?
Out of town: to the Turda Salt Mine, 30 min away, or to the Turda Gorge, 35–40 min. Both take half a day, so a third day can easily take both.
Can Cetățuia and the Botanical Garden be done in one day?
Yes — both sit near the bridge over the Someș, but each gets less time if the cathedral is added too. In a hurry, leave the park for another visit.
Why is the Ethnographic Museum a planning problem?
It is closed Monday, Tuesday. Arriving on one of those days means moving it to another slot the same day, or to a different day.
