Telč can be seen in half a day: the square, one circuit of the castle and the tower all sit close together, and there is no city transport because none is needed. From Brno, the nearest hub, a bus takes 1 h 45.

The bus from Brno (bus (FlixBus, direct line)) takes 1 h 45, ticket from €3.01, straight to Zachariáš of Hradec Square — a Renaissance square lined with arcades, UNESCO-listed since 1992, the same year as Prague and Český Krumlov. The square is free to walk at any hour.

At one end of the square stands Telč State Castle. Circuit A, with the state rooms, is €10.66 (circuit A), Jul–Aug 9am–5pm (ticket office); shorter and weekends-only off-season; circuit B, the last owners' apartments, runs as a separate tour with its own ticket. The castle park behind the building stays free, and a path through it leads back to the square.

Across from the castle, the Holy Spirit Church Tower gives a view over the whole square from above: the climb is €2.46, the tower is open Jun & Sep Tue–Sun 10–12 & 1–5pm; Jul–Aug daily to 6pm; Oct by arrangement only, closed Mondays (Jun, Sep); closed in winter (Nov–Apr).

The square itself is ringed by the Štěpnický and Ulický ponds, remnants of the old defensive line — the path around them is free and gives a view back at the castle and towers from the water. City transport: none, all on foot — the old core is small enough to cross in a few minutes.

Anyone staying longer than half a day can reach Jindřichův Hradec by bus in 45 min, ticket from €4.76 (return); or České Budějovice in 2 h, ticket from €9.67 (return).
