The best time to visit Telč

The best months for Telč are May–June and September: warm enough for a long walk around the square and the ponds, with the tower and the underground already on their longer, summer-style hours, without the crowds July brings. The castle and gallery keep their own closing day whatever the month, Monday (confirmed Sep–Oct); closed Nov–Mar.

What has a season, and what doesn't

The castle and the Jan Zrzavý Gallery share the same schedule and the same closing day, Monday (confirmed Sep–Oct); closed Nov–Mar. Holy Spirit Church Tower has a narrower window, Jun & Sep Tue–Sun 10–12 & 1–5pm; Jul–Aug daily to 6pm; Oct by arrangement only, closed Mondays (Jun, Sep); closed in winter (Nov–Apr). Zachariáš Square, the Upper Gate and the path around the Štěpnický and Ulický ponds run all year, with no seasonal limit.

Outside the main season

Outside May–June and September, what's lost is only what needs longer opening hours — an afternoon slot for the tower and part of the day for the underground. The square, the Upper Gate and the ponds are still seen in the same order as the itinerary, just without the crowds July brings.
