Telč in 1 day
The bus from Brno arrives right by the Upper Gate, and from there the square, castle, park and tower sit close enough that the whole walk fits into one morning.

The day starts with a bus from Brno and a walk into the old core through the Upper Gate, straight onto Zachariáš Square. From there the castle, park and tower sit close enough together that the whole loop fits into half a day, with no ride around town at all.
From the Upper Gate to the ponds and back
Arrival from Brno, bus (FlixBus, direct line), ticket from €3.01.
Through the Upper (Great) Gate, a 16th-century town gate that still serves as the way into the core — passed freely, with no ticket at all.
Zachariáš Square, its arcaded Renaissance houses forming the historic centre that joined the UNESCO list in 1992, alongside Prague and Český Krumlov. Crossing it is free.
Telč State Castle, at one end of the square. Entry to circuit A, taking in the state apartments, costs €10.66 (circuit A), open Jul–Aug 9am–5pm (ticket office); shorter and weekends-only off-season.
Castle Park behind the building, free, with a path leading back to the square.
Holy Spirit Church Tower, across from the castle: the climb is €2.46, the tower is open Jun & Sep Tue–Sun 10–12 & 1–5pm; Jul–Aug daily to 6pm; Oct by arrangement only.
Down to the ponds — Štěpnický and Ulický trace the line where the old walls once stood, the path around them is free, and it's where the castle and towers look best reflected.
Back to the station for the return bus, or on with the day to Jindřichův Hradec (45 min) or České Budějovice (2 h).

The castle and the Jan Zrzavý Gallery are shut, Monday (confirmed Sep–Oct); closed Nov–Mar. The square, the Upper Gate, the tower (in season) and the ponds still run, so the day narrows to those without losing the order it's walked in.
