Getting around Prague
From the plane to Old Town Square in two steps: a trolleybus, then the metro. In town itself it's all on foot, with the odd tram ride between quarters.

- Václav Havel Airport (PRG)
- From the airport
- Trolleybus 59 + metro A
- The old route
- Bus 119 was retired on 6 March 2024

Prague has its own airport, Václav Havel (PRG), and the only way into the centre is by land-based public transport: trolleybus 59 to Veleslavín station, then metro line A, about 30 min in total. Once you step out of the metro at Old Town Square, the rest of the city is on foot, with the odd tram ride to the farther quarters.
A trolleybus to the metro, not a bus
Until March 2024, bus 119 ran to Veleslavín station. Trolleybus 59 replaced it, on the same route, so 119 no longer appears on the airport boards — look for 59 instead. The ticket is €2.05 (90-minute ticket) and covers the change to the metro.
2. Metro A into the centre
From Veleslavín station, metro line A runs straight to Old Town Square, no change needed. The whole trip from the plane to the square, trolleybus included, takes about 30 min.

3. In the centre: everything on foot
Staré Město, Malá Strana and Josefov are a few minutes' walk from each other, with Charles Bridge as the link between the first two. For Vyšehrad, further south, and for Vinohrady, a tram or the metro makes sense.
4. City tickets
One ride by tram, metro or bus is €1.60 (30 min) for 30 minutes, with changes allowed inside that window. Planning a whole day out, a 24-hour ticket is €6.15 and covers the ride back to the airport too.
