Day one stays in the centre itself: from Michael's Gate through the Old Town to the cathedral and the castle, then across the SNP Bridge to the UFO deck in the evening. Day two steps outside that loop, to the Blue Church, up to Slavín and by bus out to Devín Castle at the edge of the city.
The Old Town, the castle and the UFO
Arrival from the airport, bus 61 to the main station (IDS BK), about 25–30 min.
Michael's Gate, the last of the town's old gates left standing, with a Museum of Weapons inside the tower above the passage. Entry €6, open Wed–Mon 10–18.
Through the Old Town's lanes to the corner of Laurinská and Panská, where Čumil, a statue of a worker from 1997, peers out of a manhole.
St Martin's Cathedral, where eleven Hungarian rulers were crowned between 1563 and 1830. The main nave is free, the tourist zone €5, open Mon–Sat 9–11:30, 13–18; Sun 13:30–16.
Lunch, a set menu €7–8.90.
Bratislava Castle, the climb to the courtyard is free, exhibitions €14, open grounds 8–22 daily; exhibitions 10–18 (last entry 17:00). From the terrace the view runs the full length of the Danube valley.
Down to the river and across the SNP Bridge, which on the Old Town side has not a single pillar standing in the water.
The UFO Observation Deck on the bridge's pylon, €12.50, open daily 10–23 — late enough for the lit-up castle after dark.

The castle's exhibitions and the weapons museum in Michael's Gate close on the same day, Tuesday (exhibitions) and Tuesday. On Tuesdays you're left with the courtyards, the cathedral and the UFO, without the indoor exhibits.
The Blue Church, Slavín and Devín
The Blue Church, a small Art Nouveau chapel with blue walls and a blue roof, a short walk south-east of the Old Town. Free entry.
The climb up to Slavín, a memorial and cemetery for Soviet soldiers from 1945, with a view over the whole city. Free entry.
A bus out to Devín Castle, which holds the remains of a 9th-century Great Moravian stronghold where the Danube meets the Morava. Entry €8 (Apr–Oct), €6 (Nov–Mar), open Tue–Sun, seasonal 10–16 to 10–19 (summer), closed Monday.
Bus back to the centre, a free afternoon for the Danube riverside promenade, from the Old Town to Eurovea, free.
Devín is closed Monday. The day flips instead: the Blue Church and Slavín in the morning, then a longer walk along the Danube promenade in the afternoon, in place of the castle.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Can Bratislava be done in a single day?
The Old Town, the cathedral, the castle and the UFO deck fit one packed day. The Blue Church, Slavín and Devín need a second.
What if the visit falls on a Monday or Tuesday?
Devín is closed on Mondays, the castle exhibitions and the Michael's Gate museum on Tuesdays — swap that day's slot for something with no restriction.
