Vršac is above all a place to drink. The town sits at the foot of the Vršac Mountains, the vineyards start the moment the last street of the centre ends, and in mid-September the whole centre reorganises itself around Grožđebal. Food plays a supporting role here.
The wine country at the edge of town
The Vršac Mountains begin right east of the centre, and the vines are the actual reason the town counts as a destination; the tower is just one more stop. Vinik winery is a family business in the cellar of a Swabian house from 1900, on Novosadska street itself. It takes visitors required, by phone; outside an arranged slot it is outside bookings.

Grožđebal
A four-day grape harvest festival, Thursday to Sunday, with tastings and local wineries presenting their wines around the town centre; in 2026 it runs from 17 to 20 September, for the sixty-eighth time. It is the one weekend of the year when Vršac pours wine at several spots at once; the rest of the year that's just Vinik.

Where to eat in the centre
Restaurants cluster around the main square and the pedestrian zone, the same stretch as the tower and the palace. One of them, Ekspres restaurant, prices its menu by the hundred grams of meat rather than by the finished portion — worth knowing before ordering, so one figure isn't compared against another that measures something else.
In Vojvodina, aromatised wines such as bermet from Sremski Karlovci are served lightly chilled, not cold like a table white — the same rule applies to tastings in Vršac.
