The Subotica the main five skip
The Municipal Museum stands on Synagogue Square, in a house two years older than the Town Hall — a stop the list of five sights skips, though the walk to it takes under a minute.

The five main sights are what gets seen first; this sixth one stands on the very same square as the synagogue, so the only question is whether to step inside. The Municipal Museum holds collections from the whole of northern Bačka, in a house built in 1906 for Dr Mikša Demeter by the Budapest firm of the Vágó brothers — two years before work began on the Town Hall.
The Municipal Museum — a 1906 house, an 1892 museum
The institution was founded in 1892, closed and re-established in 1948, and since then has held the archaeology of northern Bačka from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages, a natural-history collection, and an art gallery with Hungarian art from 1830–1930 alongside South Slavic art. The building itself is an older neighbour of the Town Hall: put up in 1906 for Dr Mikša Demeter, designed by the Budapest firm of the Vágó brothers — the same generation of architects who began the tower on the square two years later.

Why it isn't in the main five
The five main sights are seen from outside or briefly within; a museum collection wants a longer stay and a different pace — it doesn't fit the same 'stop, look, move on' logic. That doesn't make it less worthwhile, just puts it on a different list, for anyone with more than one morning, or a taste for museums above the average visitor's.

An order that makes sense
The museum sits on Synagogue Square, so the natural spot is right after the synagogue on the first morning, before heading to the Town Hall for the noon tour — an extra ten minutes on foot, not a separate outing.
