Where to go: five more questions →

The whole trip fits into half a day – a day, but the order decides how much you fit in: first a bus to Kuršumlija, then bus to Kuršumlija, then taxi/tour to the reserve itself, a visit to the towers and both springs, and only then — time and transport allowing — Prolom Banja on the same mountain.

The whole day

Kuršumlija, the towers and, time allowing, the spa

08:00

Bus from Niš to Kuršumlija — 1 h 20–1 h 38, fare 770–1,240 RSD (~€6.56–10.56, to Kuršumlija).

09:30

From the bus station to the reserve itself: bus to Kuršumlija, then taxi/tour. The last leg has no public line and no fixed price — a taxi is arranged in Kuršumlija.

10:30

The earth towers and both springs right beside them, about 1 h (40 min trail + springs). Admission €2.98 covers the towers, the springs and the trail together.

12:00

Back to the reserve entrance. With arranged transport, continue to Prolom Banja on the same mountain — daily pool pass 1,000 RSD weekdays, 1,200 RSD weekends (€8.52/€10.22).

15:30

Back towards Kuršumlija, then by bus to Niš.

Frequently asked

Before you go

Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.

Can Devil's Town be done in half a day?

With your own car, yes — the towers, springs and trail take about 1 h (40 min trail + springs). By bus and taxi from Kuršumlija, plan for a full day because of the wait for transport.

Do you need a car?

Not strictly, but it makes the last leg from Kuršumlija easier, since there is no public line — without one it's a taxi or an organised tour.

Is the reserve open in winter?

closed December–March. For the exact best month when it is open, see the when-to-go page.
