The best time to visit Wrocław
Wrocław has no sea to soften summer or winter, but it runs cooler than cities further south. The best months are the ones in between, plus one month that isn't the warmest but is the liveliest.

- May–June and September
- Hottest
- July, daytime highs around 26 °C
- Coldest
- January, around −3 °C at night

The best months for Wrocław are May–June and September. The city sits on the Lower Silesian plain, far from the sea, so summer can run warm, but it rarely climbs past 26 degrees by day — milder than cities further south in Poland. On 1 October the academic year starts for more than a hundred thousand students, and the city livens up despite the cooler weather.
Month by month
IMGW, 1991–2020 normal — daytime high / night-time low
In this table April, May, September and October sit between 14 and 20 degrees by day — warm enough for the full loop from the Rynek to Cathedral Island without a winter coat, yet short of summer heat. Most rain falls in July, least in February.

May–June and September
May and June sit between 20 and 23 degrees by day, and September drops to 20; all three are temperatures you can walk through all day without breaking for shade. It's also the season when the Japanese Garden in Szczytnicki Park runs full hours — 1 Apr–31 Oct, daily 9–19, €6.85 — and it shuts only out of season, from November to March.

Cooler, but lively with students
On 1 October the academic year starts for students across some thirty institutions, and the city fills up even as the daytime temperature drops to around 14 degrees. The districts around the Rynek and in Nadodrze show it best — the cafés and markets stay busy well past the summer tourist season.

Summer and winter
In July and August the day sits around 26 degrees — warmer than spring, but without heat that forces you into the shade at midday. Winter is colder: January holds around 3 degrees by day and about −3 at night, with occasional snow. The lamps on Cathedral Island come on as early as mid-afternoon then, while in May and June you wait until evening.
- For a long walk across the city or out to Centennial Hall, pick spring or autumn. In summer the middle of the day is easier spent in the shade than on your feet.
- In winter, count on a shorter daylight window. The lamps come on earlier, but so does the dark.
