Where to stay in Wrocław
Around the Rynek you're a minute from everything in the centre. In Nadodrze you pay less and sleep among students, across the river.

In Wrocław you choose between the centre and the quarter across the river. Around the Rynek everything is a minute's walk away — the dwarfs, the house façades, the way to Cathedral Island — at a price that matches. Nadodrze is the cheaper option, and it's where you see best that this is a city of more than a hundred thousand students. A hostel bed is €10.81–18.35, a three-star hotel room €30–47 per person.
For those who want everything a minute away
Outside the door are houses with painted or restored façades and a square full of café tables. The dwarfs are thickest right here and on Świdnicka Street, so day one starts without a single ride. The price of that closeness is a crowded square in summer and in the evening, until you turn into a side street.
It suits short stays, people who come for the Old Town itself and anyone who wants everything on foot. It doesn't suit anyone after quiet evenings or a lower price.

For those who want price and a student pace
Outside the door are lower late-19th-century buildings. Murals on the walls and cafés run by students from the nearby faculties set the tone for the whole quarter. You cross a bridge to reach the Rynek, and that's the only distance you actually feel. Evenings here bring fewer tourists and more local company than the centre.
It suits students, solo travellers and anyone for whom price matters more than a few extra minutes on foot. Those same murals and cafés are reason enough to stay on this side of the bridge. It doesn't suit anyone who'd rather not cross it at night.

For one night
For just one night, take a room around the Rynek. There's no time for the price across the bridge to pay off, and in the morning you're already at the start of the walk from the square.
- Don't book somewhere far from both quarters for the price. The saving is lost on the tram ride that then repeats every day.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Rynek or Nadodrze?
Rynek if this is your first visit and you want everything on foot; Nadodrze if you would rather sleep cheaper and do not mind a tram into the centre.
Should I book ahead?
For weekends and early October, yes — the city fills with students then, and rooms near the Rynek go first.
