Where to go: five more questions →

Capri has no airport, so the only way is by sea, and the usual departure is Naples. The hydrofoil from Molo Beverello (operators Snav and NLG) takes about 50 min, and the fare is €27–31 one way. On the island you then use the funicular and the bus, and a fair amount of walking.

To the island

The hydrofoil from Naples

The departure is from Molo Beverello in Naples harbour, and the boat docks at Marina Grande, the main port on the north coast. The fare depends on the operator and the sailing. If you arrive by air, the Alibus runs from Naples airport to Molo Beverello: €5 (Alibus to Molo Beverello, then the hydrofoil).

From the port to the Piazzetta

From Marina Grande the funicular climbs to the Piazzetta, the square at the centre of Capri town. Buses and taxis link the port to both towns along the hairpins of Via Giuseppe Orlandi. A single ride by bus or funicular is €2.40 (bus or funicular).

From Capri to Anacapri

Anacapri is about a hundred and fifty metres higher. The funicular does not go there, so it is the bus. The day ticket is valid for the bus and the funicular: €8.20 (€7.20 + €1 refundable deposit). The Monte Solaro chairlift leaves from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri and is not covered by it.

On foot

To Marina Piccola it is 15–20 min on foot from the Piazzetta, by Via Mulo, because Via Krupp has been closed for most of the time since 1976, owing to falling rocks. Villa Jovis is about two kilometres uphill from Capri. From Anacapri buses run to the Blue Grotto and to the Punta Carena lighthouse. To the lighthouse it is 45 min on foot on foot.
