What Capri costs
Capri is expensive because of the boat, the grotto and the beaches, and cheap wherever you only look: the Faraglioni, the Natural Arch and the lighthouse cost nothing.
- Boat from Naples
- €27–31, one way
- A main course
- €18–25
- Island transport
- €2.40 (bus or funicular)

The bill for Capri starts on the boat, because the fare from Naples is €27–31 one way, so it doubles for the return. The rest comes from the table below, and the night's stay and the Blue Grotto are paid separately.
Everything per person, in euros.
Where the bill breaks
First on the bed. A dormitory bed on the island: none, which leaves family hotels and guesthouses with private rooms, whose price varies a great deal by season. Then the Blue Grotto, where you pay for entry and the boat, at €19 entrance + €12 rowing boat inside (+ €25 motorboat transfer from Marina Grande if not reached by land). Third are the beaches: a spot at Bagni di Tiberio is from €40 (sunbed only), at Da Luigi ai Faraglioni €115, and at La Fontelina €200 minimum spend per person (29 May–13 September).

Where to save
On sightseeing. The Faraglioni are free to view from a viewpoint, as are the Natural Arch and the Punta Carena lighthouse, and Villa Jovis takes the combined ticket: €15 (combined ticket with Certosa, Blue Grotto, Casa Rossa, Villa Damecuta). On transport the day ticket, €8.20 (€7.20 + €1 refundable deposit), pays off when you ride often. On food, ravioli capresi in Anacapri are €15, less than a main course in an ordinary restaurant.
