What spoils the plan
- No car. rental car from Ioannina — no public transport — the villages are scattered and there is barely any public transport between them.
- The gorge without transport back arranged. The trail is one-way; setting off without a plan for the return means waiting at the far end.
- Winter. May–Jun, Sep–Oct; passes close in winter — the passes can close, so check the road conditions before the trip.
