Two days in Zagreb are arranged around what is open until when: the Dolac market packs up its stalls at four in the afternoon, the Museum of Broken Relationships stays open until nine or ten at night, the Sljeme cable car goes up until half past six, and the Museum of Contemporary Art is shut on Mondays. So day one starts at the market and ends in a museum after dinner, and day two goes to Mirogoj, Sljeme and across the Sava.
The market, the Upper Town, a museum after dinner
Dolac. The outdoor stalls trade from 6.30, the hall with meat and cheese from seven.
From Dolac up Radićeva through the Stone Gate to St Mark's Square, then along the Strossmayer promenade to the top station of the funicular.
Down to Ilica by funicular.
The Lenuci Horseshoe on foot, from Zrinjevac towards the main railway station.
A gablec in the Lower Town.
Dinner on Tkalčićeva, below the Upper Town.
The Museum of Broken Relationships in the Upper Town. It closes at ten in summer and nine in winter, with last entry half an hour before — so it fits after dinner.

Mirogoj, Sljeme, across the Sava
Mirogoj, on bus 106 from Kaptol; entry is free.
Tram 8 or 14 to Mihaljevac, then the 15 to the bottom station of the cable car at Gračansko dolje.
Up Sljeme by cable car (€10 return). The first departure is at ten on weekdays and nine at weekends; the last one up leaves at 18.30, the last one down at 19.00.
Back into town and by tram across the Sava to the Museum of Contemporary Art: open until seven on weekdays, until six at weekends; the permanent-collection ticket includes one ride down Carsten Höller's slide from the second floor.
Dinner in the Lower Town.
