Split Airport (SPU) is at Kaštela, west of the city; the public bus, lines 2, 37 and 38 run by Promet Split, reaches the centre in 50–75 min, traffic-dependent, a ticket €3. The old town itself is not for driving — it is closed to traffic, and everything from the cellars to Marjan is walking distance.

From the airport to the centre

Split Airport (SPU) is at Kaštela, some twenty kilometres west of the city. The public bus, lines 2, 37 and 38 run by Promet Split, reaches the centre and stops closer to the waterfront; the journey takes 50–75 min, traffic-dependent, depending on traffic, a ticket €3 — cheaper through the Promet Split app than from the driver or a kiosk. A taxi or a fixed transfer costs €35–50 (metered), €40–45 (fixed transfer), per ride, not per person.

The city bus and walking

One ride on the city bus is €1.50–2 — cheaper with a ticket bought ahead or through the app, more expensive from the driver. The old town itself, inside the palace walls, is closed to traffic, so getting from the cellars to the Peristyle, the Golden Gate or Marjan means walking, with no other option.

To the ferry port

Ferries and catamarans to the islands leave from the port east of the palace, on the opposite side from the airport. A morning departure for Hvar or Brač starts from the accommodation, so the travel time is counted from there, well clear of the runway.

To Marjan and the beaches

Marjan and Kašjuni are reached on foot from Varoš, uphill; Bačvice is east of the port, also on foot from the centre. Neither needs the city bus.

A car

Inside Split itself, everything is walked; a car only helps for trips no ferry or catamaran reaches — Krka above all, where the bus stops at Skradin, twenty minutes or so from the falls themselves.
