Where to stay in Kitzbühel
In Kitzbühel the choice is between the centre, where everything is on foot, and Kirchberg, where the room costs less and the mountain is the same.
- The centre
- Everything on foot
- Kirchberg
- A few kilometres out
- Hostel
- from €45 for a dorm bed

Kitzbühel does not have several neighbourhoods to weigh against each other; the only question is whether you sleep in town or outside it. The centre keeps everything within walking distance and is the priciest corner of Tyrol; Kirchberg is a few kilometres out, cheaper, and shares its lifts with Kitzbühel.
The centre — everything on foot
For a first visit to Kitzbühel, the centre is the only option that makes sense; the Vorderstadt, the Hahnenkamm lift station and most restaurants sit within a few streets of each other. It is also the priciest corner of Tyrol, with a three-star hotel costing €65–70 per person with breakfast, and a dorm bed from €45.

Kirchberg — cheaper, the same mountain
Kirchberg is a village a few kilometres from Kitzbühel, on the same pass as the Hahnenkamm lifts; the mountain is the same, the address is cheaper. It suits anyone here for the mountain rather than the name on the postcard.

Before booking a room here
- Distance to the lift matters more than distance to the village centre. In both Kirchberg and Kitzbühel a "central" address does not necessarily mean close to the lift station; check the exact street on a map.
- Hahnenkamm race week in January, the priciest and busiest week of the year in both places; rooms book out months ahead.
- Outside the lift season it is noticeably quieter. The lifts for walking stop running, and room prices drop below their summer peak.

The bed price splits the centre from Kirchberg, but the lift pass and the lifts themselves are the same for both.
