Kitzbühel in 2 days
Day one holds the town and the world's most famous downhill run; day two takes the lake and the other peak — nothing on this plan needs a bus.
- How long
- 1 town, 2 with mountain
- Getting around
- On foot or by bike
- Book ahead
- Nothing

This plan follows two sides of Kitzbühel: day one is the town and the Hahnenkamm, the pair that gives the place its name; day two is the Schwarzsee and the Kitzbüheler Horn, the quieter two. Every stop is on foot or by cable car from the centre, so the two days never lose a minute to transport between them.
The town and the Hahnenkamm
Vorderstadt first, while the shops are still opening and the street is empty enough to photograph: 30 min, free.
The Kitzbühel Museum, two floors and an hour at most, best done before lunch: €9, Tue–Fri 10–13, Saturday 10–17.
Lunch in the centre, €19.90–25.50 for a main course, or €11.90–15.90 for the butcher's set lunch.
The Hahnenkamm and the Streif, by cable car up to the World Cup downhill course: €35, 8:30–17:00, Fridays to 23:00 (26 Jun–18 Sep 2026). Walking the course takes 2 h, no booking needed.
Dinner in the centre, €19.90–25.50 for a main course.
The Hahnenkamm and the Kitzbüheler Horn only run outside the summer closure — both lifts are shut off-season (before 23 May and after 11 Oct 2026). Outside that window this plan is just the town and the museum.

The Schwarzsee and the Kitzbüheler Horn
The Schwarzsee: twenty minutes on a rented bike, no climbing on the way, €6, half a day for a swim or a loop of the shore.
The Kitzbüheler Horn in the afternoon, when the morning groups are already down: €35, 8:45–17:00, 2 h, no booking needed. Closed off-season (before 23 May and after 11 Oct 2026).
Dinner, finishing with €7.90 for apple strudel.
This day holds both the lake and the second peak, but each moves at a slower pace than the Hahnenkamm on day one. For a mountain-only day, skip the lake and the afternoon becomes a half-day.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
How many days should a Kitzbühel trip run?
1 town, 2 with mountain; one day covers just the town, a second adds the mountain.
Can the Hahnenkamm and the Kitzbüheler Horn be done in one day?
They can, but a lot of time goes into crossing back through the centre between them. The plan keeps them on separate days instead, with the lake as day two's breather.
What if the Kitzbühel Museum is closed that day?
It is closed Sunday, Monday; swap it for a longer stop at the Schwarzsee or an earlier start on the Hahnenkamm.
