The best time to visit Hammamet
Hammamet is a charter destination, so summer brings crowds and price, not just heat. Outside July and August it's the same sea, an emptier town.

- Coldest
- January, daily average around 12 °C

The best months for Hammamet are June and September — the sea is already warm, and charter season hasn't peaked yet. July and August are the hottest and busiest, since they carry the most package deals; winter is mild by day, but the sea is too cold to swim in.
Month by month
Temperature is the mean over the whole day (not the daily high), and a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain; averages for 2021–2024.
June, September and part of October keep the air above 20 °C without the July–August crowds. June and September fall in that band: warm enough for the sea, calm enough for a midday walk round the kasbah. July is the driest and hottest month in the run, with practically no rain at all.

The peak of charter season
July and August aren't just the hottest months but the busiest, since they carry the most charter flights and package deals, which puts both hotels and prices at their peak. The middle of the day is too hot for a long walk round the old town, so the kasbah and medina are done in the morning, and the beach and pool take over in the afternoon.

Quiet, but the sea isn't for swimming
From December to February the daily average sits around 12–14 °C, warm enough to walk the kasbah and quay without a jacket at midday, but the sea is too cold to swim in. Nothing shuts because of the cold — the kasbah, the quay restaurants and the day trips to Cap Bon and Tunis all run as usual, just without summer and without the crowds.
- Start early in summer. The kasbah and medina before noon, the beach and pool after.
- For fewer crowds and lower hotel prices, pick June and September instead of July and August.
- Don't plan on swimming in winter, just the town and the day trips — they run as usual.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
When's the best time to visit Hammamet?
June and September — the sea is already warm, and the July–August crowds and prices haven't arrived yet.
Can you swim in winter?
Not really; the daily average drops to 12–14 °C and the sea follows a similar drop. The town and day trips still run as usual.
Why is summer more expensive, not just hotter?
July and August carry the peak of charter season, so hotels and package deals push the price up along with the temperature.
