Mistakes everyone makes in Hammamet
Five mistakes that cost time or money in Hammamet, and what to do instead.
- Airport
- taxi
- Yasmine
- A shopping centre dressed as a medina
- Nabeul
- Market only on Fridays

The biggest mistakes in Hammamet come from expectations carried over from other resorts: that the airport has a bus, that Yasmine is the old medina, that Nabeul's market runs any day of the week. A quick fix sorts out every one.
1. Looking for a bus from Enfidha airport
Enfidha has no public bus to Hammamet — taxi; no public bus, and that's the only option. Hunting for a cheaper alternative on the spot just wastes time after a long flight. Instead, arrange a taxi or a hotel transfer in advance; €9–13 already accounts for it.

2. Thinking Yasmine Hammamet is the real medina
Yasmine Hammamet has its own 'medina', but it's a shopping centre built to look like an old one, with a souk where sellers push harder than in the real thing. Anyone arriving expecting a 15th-century kasbah and a fishing quay finds shops instead. Instead, the real medina and kasbah are in old Hammamet, ten kilometres north.

3. Going to Nabeul on any day but Friday
The market the whole of Cap Bon comes to only runs on Fridays; on other days only the pottery workshops are open, without the same atmosphere. Anyone who picks a random day for this trip misses the main reason to go on that particular one. Instead, if your schedule allows it, move the Cap Bon trip to a Friday.

4. Counting on a late ride back from Kelibia
The louage back to Hammamet via Nabeul isn't a scheduled line with a fixed last departure in the evening, so anyone who stays until dusk risks a wait. Instead, head back while it's still light, or arrange a driver in advance for a specific return time.
5. Not carrying small cash for taxis and louages
Neither the airport taxi nor the Cap Bon louage runs on a meter — the fare is agreed in advance, in dinars, and cards are rarely an option. Anyone who sets off without cash either negotiates from a weaker position or is left without a ride. Instead, change some cash as soon as you arrive.
