The best time to visit Trenčín
The castle is open all year, just on shorter winter hours; the tower and Katov dom each keep their own closed spell, and that's what decides the month in Trenčín.
- Best
- May–June and September
- The City Tower
- closed January
- Katov dom
- closed off-season (Nov–Mar)

The best months for Trenčín are May–June and September. The castle runs all year, open daily 9:00–18:30 (winter season to 15:30), but the Váh valley can get stuffy in summer, and the winter schedule is shorter. The tower and Katov dom each keep their own closed spell, separate from the castle.
Month by month
If you only pick one month — May. Temperature is the mean over the whole day (not the daily high), and a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain; averages for 2021–2024.
May, June and September keep the castle on its full summer schedule, with no winter shortening of hours, May–June and September. July and August carry the same hours, but also the heat of the Váh valley, felt most on the climb up to the castle.

The castle runs, the tower and Katov dom don't
From November to March the castle switches to shorter hours, daily 9:00–18:30 (winter season to 15:30). At the same time Katov dom is closed, off-season (Nov–Mar), while the City Tower has only one closed month, January. Trenčianske Teplice is still walkable, but spa guests are the main visitors then, not day-trippers.

What runs all year
Mierové námestie, the Piarist Church and the river beach on the Ostrov have no season and no closing day. The same goes for the view of the Roman inscription through Hotel Elizabeth's window, available whenever the reception is staffed.
