Where to go: five more questions →

Niš has no metro and no city transport tickets — since 1 July 2025 the whole city and suburban bus network has been free for everyone, so you just board. The airport has its own line into the centre, and the same network reaches the gorges and the spa.

From Niš airport to the centre

Niš Airport (INI) is four kilometres from the centre in a straight line, with its own circular lines 34A and 34B into town — every fifteen minutes on weekdays, every thirty at weekends. Both lines, like the whole city and suburban network, have been free for everyone since 1 July 2025; before that, it applied to only part of the network.

Line 1 — the backbone of the city

It runs from Trg kralja Milana, past the Skull Tower and Mediana, out to Niška Banja at the other end of town. For a visitor staying one day, this is the only line actually needed in the city — everything else is walking distance from the fortress and the old bazaar.

Suburban lines to the gorges

Line 18 runs to Sićevo, 20L to Ostrovica on the far side of the Sićevo gorge, and 21L to Jelašnica, near the Jelašnica gorge. A separate, direct coach line outside the city network runs to Sokobanja.

Taxi

It makes sense late at night, with more luggage, or when heading straight to one address without waiting for a bus: the start is €1.60, and each further kilometre €0.60. A ride from the airport is €4.30, the daytime tariff.
