Where to go: five more questions →

Of the five museums on this page, two are a reason to come to the city: POLIN and the Warsaw Rising Museum. The National Museum, the Copernicus Science Centre and the Neon Museum are for whatever time is left, and the day of the week sets the order for all five, because three of them have a day when they shut.

Two reasons to come to Warsaw for its museums

POLIN and the Rising Museum are closed on Tuesdays, and on Thursdays both are free to enter. If you're going to both, skip Tuesday and pick Thursday. On other days admission to the Rising Museum is €8.06, and to POLIN €10.36, with an audio guide included.

The National Museum

Monday shuts it, Tuesday is free

Tuesday, when those two are shut, belongs to the National Museum, because entry to the permanent galleries is free that day. On Mondays the museum is closed. It stands on Aleje Jerozolimskie, within walking distance of the Palace of Culture.

Copernicus Science Centre

A booked slot, no closing day

Down by the Vistula, in Powiśle, stands the Copernicus Science Centre, an interactive science museum open every day of the week. Tickets are sold for a time slot, online or on site, and the centre's own site advises buying ahead to avoid queuing at the door.

The Neon Museum

Fourth floor of the Palace of Culture

Back in the centre, inside the Palace of Culture, is the Neon Museum, also open every day. You enter from Marszałkowska street and take the side lifts from level −1 up to the fourth floor. Admission is €5.76. The viewpoint on the thirtieth floor of the same building has a ticket of its own.

The order, if more than one fits into the same day

The National Museum and the Neon Museum share one afternoon, a short walk apart through the centre. Copernicus is down by the river in Powiśle and makes a separate outing from the centre. POLIN and the Rising Museum already have their day in the two-day plan, and a third museum on the same day only stretches it.
