The best time to visit The Masurian Lakes
On the Masurian Lakes the date also decides what in the plan is open: the tower only from May to September, the bridge turning from April to October, and sails on the water until the autumn regattas.
- Best
- Jun–Aug
- Water Tower
- May and Sep 10–18
- The Wolf's Lair
- Open year-round

The Masurian Lakes are a summer region: Jun–Aug; May and Sep quieter. After summer the plan doesn't close all at once: the Water Tower shuts first, then the autumn regattas end the sailing season, then the bridge stops turning, while the Wolf's Lair and Boyen Fortress stay open all year.
The seasons here don't line up, so the month also decides how much of the three-day plan is left.
The best time to go: Jun–Aug; May and Sep quieter
From May to September every sight in the three-day plan is open: the Water Tower is open, the bridge turns, and the fortress and the Wolf's Lair keep their longest summer hours. June to August is the peak. May and September give the same plan with fewer people, and there are sails on the water then too, since the sailing season starts on the first weekend of May.

October to April
In October the autumn regattas close the sailing season, and the Water Tower has already shut by then, off-season (Oct–Apr). The bridge on the canal operates 1 Apr–31 Oct; does not rotate outside that period. In winter what's left of the three-day plan is the fortress in Giżycko and the Wolf's Lair, both on shorter hours.

The Wolf's Lair runs all year, just shorter
That keeps the main stop of day three independent of the season. The Wolf's Lair has no closed month; outside summer only its hours get shorter: May–Aug 8–20, Sep and Mar 8–18, Apr and Oct 8–19, Nov–Feb 8–16, daily.

Boyen Fortress, shorter winter hours
Day one has the same fallback in Giżycko itself. Boyen Fortress has no closing day of the week, and from September to April it runs shorter hours: May–Aug 9–19, Sep–Apr 9–16.
