Lublin splits over 2 days by content, not geography: the first day stays in the Old Town and at the castle above it, the second starts at Majdanek, on the edge of town, and only afterwards returns to the centre for the underground route. Neither day needs a car.
The Old Town and the castle
Arrival Lublin Airport (LUZ), then train (Polregio local rail, the "szynobus") to Lublin Główny station, 16–25 min for €1.21. The Old Town is uphill from there, on foot or by city bus.
Through the Kraków Gate into the Old Town; walking the cobbles to the main square is free, 2–3 h walk.
The castle on the hill above the Old Town: a combined ticket for the exhibitions, the Holy Trinity Chapel and the tower is €9.13. The permanent exhibitions close on Mondays; the chapel and tower open daily.
Lunch in the Old Town: a main course runs €6.80–8.65.
Outside the walls, to Plac Litewski and the Saxon Garden right beside it — the park is free and stays open round the clock.
Entry to the Holy Trinity Chapel runs on a timed slot. Anyone visiting in season should book it in the morning, before the queue at the castle gate.

Majdanek, then the underground route
By bus or tram to the edge of the city, to the State Museum at Majdanek. Entry is free, a visit takes about 3 h. Open Apr–Oct 9–18 (last entry 17); Nov–Mar 9–16 (last entry 15), closed Monday and public holidays.
Back into the centre, the same transport in the other direction.
Lunch or something quick before continuing — €6.40 at a restaurant with a set lunch.
The Underground Route beneath the main square: 40 min on three levels, entry €8.44, timed slot.
Majdanek is closed on Mondays and public holidays. If day two falls on one, the order flips: the underground route and the rest of the Old Town come first, and Majdanek moves to the end of the stay or gets dropped.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Can Majdanek be combined with the Old Town on the same day?
It can, but this plan keeps them apart: Majdanek needs about 3 h without rushing, and folding it into an Old Town walk means neither gets the time it needs.
What if day two falls on a Monday?
Majdanek is closed on those days. The order flips: the underground route and the rest of the Old Town come first, and Majdanek moves to the end of the stay or gets dropped.
Is a car needed for these two days?
No. The Old Town is on foot, the climb to the castle is on foot, and a city bus or tram runs out to Majdanek.
