Getting around Kraków
From the airport to the door it's the train or a fixed-fare taxi; around the city you mostly walk, and the tram takes over only once you need to cross the river.

From Kraków Airport (KRK) into the centre, SKA1 train to Kraków Główny takes about 17–20 min for €4.61; the official taxi runs a fixed fare per ride, €20.50–25.10. Inside the city itself you mostly walk — the Old Town is small and partly pedestrian — and the tram takes over only for Kazimierz, Podgórze and beyond.
From the airport to the door
Kraków Airport (KRK) has its own railway station, from which SKA1 train to Kraków Główny takes about 17–20 min for €4.61 per person, while the official taxi runs a fixed fare per ride, €20.50–25.10 depending on the zone, and stops right at the door. An unmarked driver approaches you in arrivals. That is not the official taxi, and it has no fixed fare.

The Old Town — everything on foot
The Rynek and everything around it is dense and partly pedestrian; the tram doesn't run through the core itself. Anyone with a suitcase does better choosing a place to stay inside the Planty ring or right against it, since the cobbles and the crowds don't roll easily.

The tram — over the river and out to Nowa Huta
The tram takes over only once you need to cross the Vistula, to Podgórze or Schindler's factory, or out to Nowa Huta, about twenty minutes from the centre. The ride itself is short. A single ride is €1.37, a full day €4.61, bought from a machine at the stop or through an app, and a paper ticket is validated the moment you board — an unvalidated ticket counts as no ticket at all, and plain-clothes inspectors work every day.

Uber, Bolt and a bike
Uber and Bolt operate legally in Kraków, and the fare can come in lower than the official taxi, especially outside rush hour. For a bike, the city system is called LajkBike — the older name Wavelo, still mentioned in some guides, closed down at the end of 2019.
Towards Wieliczka, Auschwitz and beyond
The city tram and bus network doesn't reach Wieliczka or Auschwitz. Those trips run on a train from the main station or a regional bus, depending on the destination.
