Gdańsk has its own airport, with a direct train from it into town. From the centre the SKM commuter rail carries on to Sopot and Gdynia, while trams run to the Brzeźno and Jelitkowo beaches.
1. Gdańsk Airport (GDN): a train into town
Lech Wałęsa Airport has a direct connection, direct PKM train to Gdańsk Główny, with no transfer. The journey takes about 28 min, and the ticket is €2.51.

The Main Town on foot
The Old Town, the Motława and Mariacka are all a few minutes' walk from one another, so transport within the centre itself is rarely needed. When it is, a tram or bus ride is €1.10. Beyond the centre, bus 138 runs to Westerplatte from Plac Solidarności, by the ECS, all year; from April to the end of November a water tram also sails there from the Motława.

3. The SKM for Sopot and Gdynia
The SKM commuter rail runs every seven to ten minutes at peak and carries on past the Main Town: fifteen minutes to Sopot for €2.07, thirty to Gdynia for €2.53, stopping in Wrzeszcz along the way on the lowest fare, €1.61. The city beaches at Brzeźno and Jelitkowo don't need the train — trams run to both straight from the centre.

4. A 24-hour ticket or singles
For rail and city transport in one town the ticket is €6.91; for rail and all city transport across the whole Tricity, Sopot and Gdynia included, it's €7.83. It's bought at machines on SKM platforms or in the app, and runs exactly 24 hours from validation, not until midnight.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Do you need a car for Sopot and Gdynia?
No. Both towns are on the SKM line, with a station right in the centre.
Is the 24-hour ticket worth it?
It pays off once you ride both the SKM and city transport several times the same day; for a single return trip to Sopot it does not.
