Day trips from Herceg Novi
Kotor and Perast go by boat from the same harbour as the Blue Cave, and Dubrovnik by bus across the border — none of them suits a rush.
- Kotor, Perast, Our Lady of the Rocks
- 4 h 30 – 5 h by boat
- Blue Cave and Mamula
- by boat from Škver
- Dubrovnik
- 1 h 5 – 1 h 30 by bus

Three destinations fit a day out of Herceg Novi. A boat from Škver reaches the bay or the Blue Cave, a bus crosses the border to Dubrovnik. Each wants a day of its own, and none is done in an hour or two as a side trip from the town.
Kotor, Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks
A boat from Škver calls at Perast, at the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks and in Kotor, with Stoliv on the way back. The whole tour takes 4 h 30 – 5 h, priced €40.

The Blue Cave and Mamula island
The same departure from Škver also runs the other way, towards a sea cave lit blue by light entering through the water, and a fortress on Mamula island at the mouth of the bay. Priced €30 (children 6–11: €15), half a day.

Dubrovnik
A bus crosses the border and reaches Dubrovnik after 1 h 5 – 1 h 30, a full day; the border can add time on the way back in summer.

How long each takes
Boat for the bay and the Blue Cave from Škver; bus for Dubrovnik.
- The boat does not sail in a strong wind. The departure for the bay and the Blue Cave is confirmed that morning.
- The border with Croatia can add time in summer; budget for it on the way back from Dubrovnik.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Which day trip from Herceg Novi is shortest?
The Blue Cave and Mamula, half a day; it leaves from the same Škver as the bay tour.
Can the bay and the Blue Cave be done the same day?
Rarely a good idea; both leave by boat from the same Škver but in different directions, and each wants at least half a day on its own.
Do you need to book the boat to the bay or the Blue Cave?
Not always required, but seats fill up in summer; booking ahead beats leaving it to the same morning.
