Where to stay in Milan

A mid-range room by the Duomo costs about twice what it does by Centrale — except in fashion week and Salone week, when that sum holds nowhere in the city.

Where to go: five more questions →

Where to stay in Milan depends first on the date: in fashion week and during the Salone del Mobile, rooms go up across the whole city. Outside those weeks the district is chosen by price and by airport — a night in a mid-range hotel by the Duomo costs about twice as much as by Centrale station.

ItemAmount
Around the Duomo€70–140
Brera€70–125
Navigli€45–100
Porta Venezia€45–80
Around Centrale station€35–60

The Duomo against Centrale — about twice as much. Per person per night, half the price of a double room in a mid-range hotel, outside fair weeks.

The weeks when the table does not hold

  • Fashion week, 22–28 September 2026. The shows are spread across the city, so prices rise everywhere, by half to threefold.
  • Salone del Mobile, 13–18 April 2027. The fair is at Rho, on metro line M1, and Design Week in the city starts a day earlier. The dearest week of the year.

Around the Duomo — for Linate and a short stay

The dearest district in the table, but the Duomo, the Galleria and La Scala are on foot, and from San Babila, one stop away on M1, line M4 runs to Linate in twelve minutes.

Brera — for Malpensa and the Castello

North of La Scala, with Lanza station on line M2. Cadorna, where the Malpensa Express reaches the airport in about 37–40 min, is a walk past the Castello — which makes Brera better than the Duomo for an early or late Malpensa flight, at a similar price.

Navigli — the widest spread of prices

The canals in the south-west, with Porta Genova station on line M2: from B&Bs to mid-range hotels, hence the widest range in the table.

Porta Venezia and Centrale — the lowest prices

Porta Venezia is on line M1, two stops from San Babila and the Linate line. Around Centrale the three-star hotels are the cheapest in the table, and from the station the Malpensa Express takes about 50 min to the airport, every half hour.
