The best time to visit Amalfi
Best in May, June, September and October; in summer the beach fills with clubs, and in winter the arsenal opens shorter hours.

- 10–19, last entry 18.30 (1 Apr–2 Nov)

When to go to Amalfi depends on what you want from the town: walks and trails suit May, June, September and October best, while swimming at Marina Grande follows the summer. Month by month in the table, and below it three things that change a plan.
The year month by month
If you only pick one month — September. Temperature is the mean over the whole day (not the daily high), and a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain; averages for 2021–2024.
The cathedral open late only in summer
The Duomo opens 9–18.45 (Mar–Jun), until 19.45 in summer (Jul–Sep). In summer it closes an hour later than in March–June, so you can go in towards evening, after the beach.

The beach is summer
Marina Grande is the town beach, pebble and imported dark sand. July and August bring the beach clubs. Prices: free (west end) · sunbeds for two €25–35. Outside those months the clubs are gone, but the sea is colder too.
In winter the arsenal shortens
The Arsenal keeps two sets of hours: 10–19, last entry 18.30 (1 Apr–2 Nov); 10–16.40, last entry 16.10 (3 Nov–31 Mar). If you come in the colder part of the year, put it in the middle of the day.

Which month for whom
- For trails: May, June, September and October, when the climb to Pontone is not done in the heat.
- For the beach: summer, with clubs and sunbeds.
- For the town without a rush: the off-season months, with the arsenal on shorter hours.
