Where to go: five more questions →

Amalfi has four day trips and all four are short. Atrani is five to ten minutes on foot, Ravello and Positano are by bus, and Salerno is the only one that takes a full day. They run from the nearest to the farthest, and buses are charged by zone.

Atrani

The closest, through the tunnel

Atrani is the neighbouring village, reached by on foot through the tunnel, or bus (line 5110). The walk takes 5–10 min on foot, and on foot there is no fare. Allow half a day; the trail from the Torre dello Ziro ends here too.

Ravello

Uphill, by bus

Ravello sits on a hill above the coast, known for the Villa Rufolo and the Villa Cimbrone. The SITA bus, direct (AC1 fare zone) takes about 25–30 min, and the return fare is €3. Allow half a day.

Positano

Along the coast

Positano lies on the other side of Amalfi, and there are two ways to get there: SITA bus (AC2 fare zone); ferry (Travelmar) as an alternative. The bus takes about 45–50 min (bus), €4.80 return. Allow half a day.

Salerno

The only full day

Salerno is at the far end of the coast. The SITA bus, line 5120 (AC3 fare zone); ferry (Travelmar) as an alternative takes about 1 h 15; the return fare is €5.60. Salerno has a cathedral holding the tomb of Pope Gregory VII. Allow a full day.

If you ride the bus several times in one day, look at the COSTIERASITA day ticket, €10; inside Amalfi itself you don't need it.
