Eger in 2 days
Day one keeps the castle, the square and the basilica downtown; day two goes to the wine valley and the thermal bath, since both sit on the same southern edge of town.

This plan follows the side of town, not a list of sights: day one is the centre around the castle and the basilica, day two is Szépasszony-völgy and the thermal bath, on the southern edge of town. Split them up and the walk grows for no reason.

The castle, the square and the basilica
Eger Castle, the hill above town with a museum on the two sieges of 1552 and 1596. Entry €13.25 (€7.73 reduced), no booking needed.
Down to Dobó Square, the main town square below the fortress, with a statue of Captain Dobó. free, 20–30 min for a loop of the square.
The Basilica, Hungary's second-largest church. Visiting the nave and crypt together 30–45 min; nave entry €4.14 (hours: see source — timed guided visits).
Lunch downtown, €8.00–9.66 for a set menu.
The Lyceum, a rooftop camera obscura and an astronomical tower. Entry €9.93 (€4.97 reduced), booking is recommended; a visit takes 45–60 min.
The Minaret, a spiral staircase and a view over the rooftops, 20–30 min. Opens seasonally.
Dinner downtown, near Dobó Square.

The valley and the baths do not fit this day. The centre is dense and walked; both want the other side of town and a different pace.

Szépasszony-völgy and the thermal bath
Szépasszony-völgy, wine cellars cut into the hillside — tastings of Egri Bikavér paid per cellar. Entry to the valley free, working through a few cellars 1–2 h.
Lunch in the valley or back towards the centre.
Eger Thermal Bath, a full-day ticket €12.69; a visit usually takes half a day.

This day holds both wine and unwinding, but shortens each. For a proper tasting across several cellars, split it over two days — the valley one morning, the baths the next.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Where does a third day in Eger go?
Out of town, as a day of its own: Szilvásvárad by train (a full day) or Sirok Castle for half a day. Neither is an add-on to the centre in the same day.
Can Szépasszony-völgy and the thermal bath be done in one day?
Yes, but only by starting earlier than this plan has it — the valley from the morning instead of 10:00, the bath squeezed into two or three afternoon hours. A tasting across several cellars doesn't fit that shape; it's one cellar and a shorter soak instead.
Does the Lyceum need booking?
Recommended — the camera obscura runs on set slots, so walking in without notice means waiting.
