Mistakes everyone makes in Rhodes
Anyone arriving on Rhodes assuming one bus and one ticket cover everything gets it wrong before setting off — RODA, KTEL Rodou and the 2025 reform change the plan more than anything else.
- Combined ticket
- Ended with the 1 April 2025 reform
- RODA vs KTEL Rodou
- Two separate companies
- Day ticket
- none

Most mistakes on Rhodes come from assuming one ticket and one company cover everything, or that the Palace, Lindos and Kameiros are still on the same price list as before 2025. All eight below trace back to the same shift — the reform that split apart tickets, companies and time slots that used to come as one.
Asking for the old combined ticket
Until 1 April 2025 there was a shared ticket for the Palace, Lindos and Kameiros — since that date it's gone, and each site sells its own separately. Ask at the counter for the old combination and all that happens is time lost in the queue.

Assuming RODA runs everywhere
RODA covers town, the west and the airport; everything east of town, including Lindos, is run by KTEL Rodou. One company's ticket doesn't work on the other's buses, and their stops are separate — wait for RODA at a KTEL Rodou stop and you're waiting for a bus that doesn't come that way.

Counting on a day ticket
none — neither RODA nor KTEL Rodou sells one. Anyone planning several rides in the same day buys a ticket for each, not one for all of them.

Arriving in Lindos without a booked slot
The 2025 reform introduced a mandatory entry slot for the acropolis, all year round, not just in season. Turn up without one and you don't walk straight in — you wait for a free slot or come back another day.

Arriving at the Palace or Kameiros on a Tuesday out of season
Tuesday (Nov–Mar) applies to both the Grand Master's Palace and Kameiros — turn up that day out of season and the gate is shut at both. Lindos has no closed day.

Driving a car into the old town
Cars don't enter the walls, except residents and deliveries. Arrive by car expecting to park near your room and you leave it outside the gate and carry your luggage over the cobbles instead.

Planning Prasonisi as a short trip
Ninety-two kilometres from town, with an hour and a half to two hours of driving, Prasonisi isn't an afternoon stop. Set off after lunch and you arrive with the sun already low, with no time on the beach itself.

Arriving at the Valley of the Butterflies out of season
none (but shut Nov–Mar) — arrive in November or December expecting the usual entrance, and the gate is already shut.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Do the Palace, Lindos and Kameiros still share a ticket?
No — the 1 April 2025 reform ended the combined ticket; each site now sells its own.
Does the same bus ticket work on both RODA and KTEL Rodou?
No — they're two separate companies with separate tickets and stops.
What happens arriving at Lindos without a booked slot?
Entry isn't guaranteed straight away — a slot has been required all year since the 2025 reform.
