Larnaca has three Blue Flag beaches in 2026, and they have almost nothing in common. One lies in the town, one sits under the flight path, and one runs along a fishing shelter where the restaurants serve the morning's catch. Two more, further out, fill the gaps for families and for walkers, and the table below sorts all five by what each is for before the paragraphs explain the choice.
In town
Finikoudes is the town beach, 600 m of sand with shallow water in front of the palms that give the promenade its name. It has a lifeguard in season, sunbeds, showers and water sports, and diving and boat trips leave from the pier. This is the stretch you reach on foot from the fort or the Church of Saint Lazarus without planning anything. At one end of the promenade sit a marina and the fishing harbour, at the other the pier and the fort, so the beach doubles as the town's evening walk. It also carries the 2026 Blue Flag.

Planes and evenings
Mackenzie is about 1 km of beach beside the airport, and aircraft come down so low over the sand that people lie there just to watch. The wind brings windsurfers and kitesurfers, and bars and cafes line the shore, which at weekends turn into clubs with DJ nights. Sunbed prices vary, so ask before you sit. In autumn the same wind makes it the beach for boards. Photographers arrive early, before the sand fills. Choose Mackenzie for the evening and Finikoudes for small children.
Kastella, Yiannades and Faros: the quieter ones
Kastella stretches for about 600 m beside the Psarolimano fishing shelter, with fish restaurants close behind the sand, so lunch is a short walk away from the towel, and the catch of the day is the thing to order. Yiannades, also called Goldfish, measures about 300 m in Voroklini. It is extremely shallow, so children can wade a long way out, and it is billed as the first plastic-free beach in Larnaca. Faros is about 500 m long beside the lighthouse at Cape Kiti near the village of Pervolia, in a protected area of seagrass, and has beach volleyball. Zygi Limanaki is a small beach beside a fishing harbour. Pyla has grey sand and suits families. For toddlers pick Yiannades, and for a walk before sunset pick Faros.
