Šibenik in 2 days
The first day stays in the old town and climbs to three forts, the second goes to Krka — because no public transport reaches the park, so the day is built around that.
- How long
- 2 days
- Getting around
- On foot and up stairs in town
- Book ahead
- Nothing for the forts

This plan splits the town from the park: day one is the old town, dense and steep, all on foot and up stairs; day two is Krka, which no public transport reaches, so you go by car or an organised tour. Mix the two and you lose half a day to a transfer that never had to happen.
The old town: the cathedral, three forts, the channel
The Cathedral of St James, built without mortar. Entry costs €10, closed Sunday and holidays, no booking needed; the outside takes fifteen minutes or so, before the climb to the forts.
The climb to St Michael's Fortress: €11.50, daily 9–20, last entry 30 min before closing. No booking needed, except for groups.
Further up the hill to Barone Fortress: €11.50 (26 Mar–31 Oct); free in winter (1 Nov–28 Feb), daily 9–20. For both forts, €15 also covers the third, St John's — that decision gets made at the first gate.
Lunch in the old town — black risotto and pašticada are the two dishes most often on a Dalmatian konoba's menu.
The St Anthony channel, a footpath about 4.4 km long beside the sea passage ships use to enter the port, no ticket. It ends opposite St Nicholas' Fortress, reached only by boat.
The old town is steep. All three climbs go up stairs with no shade. Sort out water and walking shoes early, before the first fort.

Krka: Skradinski Buk, no public transport
The drive to Lozovac, about 15 min to Lozovac from Šibenik — no direct bus route exists, so it's a car or an organised tour.
Park entry and Skradinski Buk: €40 June to September, lower outside that season. Swimming right at the falls has been banned since 2021; anyone who wants a swim goes further upstream to Roški Slap.
Visovac, a boat trip from Skradinski Buk: 2 h, half an hour of it on the island with the Franciscan monastery, €15. There is no fixed timetable — ask at the jetty.
Back towards Šibenik, or dinner in Skradin, at the park's other entrance.
Add Visovac and you shorten the time at the falls themselves. For a full day at Skradinski Buk alone, save Visovac for another visit.

Before you go
Short answers to what people ask most before setting out.
Can all three forts be visited in one day?
Yes — all three sit on the same climb above the old town. The combined ticket, €15, covers St Michael's, Barone and St John's, and is decided at the first gate.
How do you reach Krka without your own car?
There is no direct bus. You go by rental car or an organised tour from Šibenik; both cover the ride and the entry ticket.
Can you swim at Skradinski Buk?
No, it has been banned since 2021. Swimming is allowed further upstream, at Roški Slap.
