Where to go: five more questions →

Five destinations sit around Šibenik, each its own way: Krka and Kornati need a car, a boat or an organised tour, Zlarin and Trogir run on scheduled services, and Vrana Lake is reached only by your own car. None of them fits into half a day except Zlarin and Trogir.

NP Krka

about 15 min to Lozovac of driving to the Lozovac entrance — no direct bus route exists, so it's a car or an organised tour. The ticket is €40 June to September, lower in April, May and October. The full one-day schedule, with Visovac as an add-on, is on the plan page.

Kornati

A national park of 89 islands, islets and reefs with no permanent population, reachable only by boat. Private operators run full-day tours, a full day (combined tour, about 8.5 h), from ~€45 up to €950 (private speedboat, up to 11 people) depending on the boat and the number of passengers. There is no single official park fare for Kornati; each operator sets its own price.

Zlarin

An island with no cars; tractors are the only transport. By Jadrolinija ferry from the town waterfront, a return ticket costs €7 (season) / €5 (off-season) and the trip takes half a day. The island has been known for centuries for hand-harvested coral, a craft traced back to the 15th century.

Trogir

An old town on an islet between the mainland and Čiovo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. By Autotrans/Arriva coach, a return ticket costs €14.12–26.24 (2× one-way) and the trip takes half a day.

Vrana Lake Nature Park

Croatia's largest natural lake and one of the Adriatic's more important bird reserves, with over a hundred species nesting in the reed beds around it. No regular bus reaches the park; you get there own car (no regular bus route), the trip takes half a day to a full day, and park entry costs €6 (children €3).
