Where to stay in Pula
In Pula the choice is between the centre, everything walkable to the Arena, and Verudela or Medulin, closer to the sea but a drive from the sights.
- For the Roman city
- The centre
- For the beach
- Verudela and Medulin
- Hostel
- from €13 for a dorm bed

Pula has no district chosen for a scattered old core — the choice is between walking distance to the Roman sights and closeness to the sea. The centre covers the first, Verudela and Medulin the second, with a drive or a longer walk back.
The centre — everything walkable to the Arena
The amphitheatre, the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii sit within a fifteen-minute walk of each other, making the centre the one part of town where you barely need to ride anything. It's also the shortest route to the bus station, where the FILS shuttle arrives from the airport, ≈15 min ride, €6. It doesn't meet every flight, so it's worth checking the timetable ahead and keeping a backup plan.

Verudela and Medulin — closer to the sea
A peninsula south of the centre, with hotel complexes and beaches right on the water — Verudela is closer, Medulin further out and quieter. Getting to the Arena from here means a bus or a car, about twenty minutes each way. It makes sense for a stay longer than a few nights or when the beach is the priority; for a quick look at the centre, staying there is more practical.

What to check before booking
- Distance is measured from the Arena. A 'centre' in a listing often means something wider than the walkable core — check the exact street on a map.
- The airport shuttle doesn't meet every flight. Out of season or late at night, a taxi is often the only realistic option.

A dorm bed is from €13, the same in the centre and on the peninsula; the only difference is the quiet evenings.
