Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe (IVB) covers the city with six tram lines (1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and STB) and a bus network, all on the same ticket: €3.30 for one ride, €7.30 for 24 hours.

On foot through the old town

Altstadt is a pedestrian zone; from the Golden Roof it's a few minutes' walk to Congress station, the starting point of the Hungerburgbahn funicular up to the Nordkette. The old town's sights on a first day need no transport at all.

The Sightseer, and the route to Ambras and the zoo

The Sightseer tourist bus runs on its own ticket, not the IVB fare, and stops at Ambras, Bergisel, the Alpenzoo and the old town — useful when all of them are done in one loop. The regular W line from Marktplatz also reaches the Alpenzoo, on the same IVB ticket. So does the Hungerburgbahn funicular. It has its own stop right by the zoo entrance, between the Congress and Hungerburg stations.
