What Djerba costs

Djerba costs little on sights — the market, the synagogue, Djerbahood and the beach are close to free — and the bill only climbs with the Sahara trip and hired transport.

Day trip: Ksar Ghilane, a full day€65–140 (depends on group size)

Houmt Souk, Djerbahood, Guellala village and Sidi Mahrez beach are free; the El Ghriba synagogue asks only a voluntary donation.

The Sahara trip is the only thing that seriously moves the bill. All three variants cross the same causeway and take a full day, and the price depends on whether you go in a group or a private vehicle: a group tour is cheapest, while a private 4x4 to Ksar Ghilane can run up to five times as much per person for a smaller group.

Getting around the island

A metered taxi covers short rides to the beach or the market; for a full day on the island a hired scooter or bike, scooter €15–28/day, bike €15/day, works out cheaper than several short taxi rides.
