Deliblato Sands in 1 day
The whole visit fits into one day from Belgrade, but the route depends on what's open after the 2026 fire — check before you set out, not on the way.

Deliblato Sands takes 1 day out of Belgrade — a car is the only realistic way in, about 1 h 30 by car from Belgrade (BEG airport). The plan below starts at Devojački Bunar, the only place with food and drink and the trailhead for the paths, then moves on to the dunes and viewpoints. Part of the area remains restricted after the 2026 fire, so check the status with Vojvodinašume before setting out.
From Belgrade to the dunes and back
Departure from Belgrade; rental car; no line to reserve, about 1 h 30 by car to Devojački Bunar.
Devojački Bunar opens the day — recreation grounds since 1895, now the trailhead for every path and the only spot in the sands to get food and drink. Its namesake well ran dry long ago, after reaching 163 metres down.
Cycling and walking trails run through acacia and pine woodland dating to the 19th century. Head into the strictest protection zone and a guide is required — no solo entry there.
The dunes and views: the high point is Mala Čoka, 197 metres — the košava wind is what piles the sand into this shape.
Lunch at Devojački Bunar before heading back onto the trails — the only place in the sands to sit down at a table.
Birds and steppe animals (the imperial eagle, ground squirrel) or, in April and May, the Banat peony with more than twenty orchid species alongside it. Birdwatching odds are better early morning — this slot is a compromise for the drive from Belgrade.
Drive back to Belgrade.
Parts of the area remain under access restrictions after the July–August 2026 fire. Check with Vojvodinašume what's currently open — it changes which part of this plan is possible on any given day.
